On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I have the pleasure to welcome all the delegates for the X Jornadas de Carbohidratos, the biannual meeting of the “Grupo Especializado de Carbohidratos de la Real Sociedad Española de Química (RSEQ)” that is going to be held at Hotel Nazaries of Granada (Spain) from September 15th to 18th.
The aim of this symposium is to share the latest advances attained by the carbohydrate chemistry scientific Spanish community and also to foster new collaborations, to stimulate discussions on current trends in the field, and to serve as a discussion forum for the different issues that affect our professional activity. To attain this objective the Scientific Programme includes 5 plenary Lectures, 15 Invited Lectures, 16 short Oral Communications and 3 poster sessions including more than 60 poster presentations. The topics cover both basic and applied aspects of glycosciences, from chemistry to biology and they will be developed by a panel of outstanding Spanish speakers, together with five relevant chemists from other countries, who were selected on the basis of their recent scientific contributions in hot themes in Carbohydrate Chemistry.
The Scientific Programme will be developed in two and a half days of intense work and the Social Programme includes a welcome reception, a gala dinner and a nightly guided visit to the Alhambra, the monumental site most visited in Spain.
